What is a Postal Match?

Before the internet, if friendly target shooters wanted to compete against one another they could either meet together and exchange targets, or they would participate in a Postal Match. Typically these contests were a standard course of fire that the participants shot, then mailed to the contest organizer for tally. Since the internet can provide us with nearly instant feedback, and we can trade many different targets, it seems to be an ideal format for the "Modern Postal Match".

October 2010 Match - Zombie Apocalypse

They are mindless
They are ravenous
They are undeterred
They have only one mission...
to make you one of them

It's that time of year again....the Zombies are running amuck. (They seem to be running amuck in Washington all year long, but that's another story!) I think the massive flooding in the Middle Tennessee area has spawned a particularly ravenous crop. Shooters everywhere have a resposibility to take them out.

Remember, to kill a Zombie, you must get a good head shot! In this match, head shots rule, however body shots can also count. It takes TWO body shots to equal ONE head shot.

The Match:
7 yards
Two Hands
Fire as many rounds as needed to kill them all
Enter as many guns as you can, it's up to you to save our species

Please look to the left, these are the general
rules applicable to all matches.

The Goal:

There are 9 Zombies coming after you....you must kill each one. Scoring will be the total number of shots to kill them all. Therefore, the best/lowest score for killing the Zombies is 9. Hitting the hair does not count...you must hit their head to count as a head shot.

Look at the target carefully and you will also notice a Zombie pumpkin. The Grand Z-Pump, as he is known, actually controls the other Zombies in his squad. If you shoot the Z-Pump with a clean, single head shot, you will disorient the squad. What this means is that they will die with only a single body shot. Think about it...if you can nail Z-Pump, you weaken the entire squad making it easier to kill them. Plan your shots well, however... his power only affects the body shots. If you are so good that you get a head shot on each, Z-Pump's power is nil. Nail him too for extra credit if you have already gotten all others with a head shot. That's a "best score" of 10. Any questions, please email me at postalmatch@gmail.com.

Send a photo or scan of your targets to: postalmatch@gmail.com
Deadline is Halloween - 10/31/10

Save us from the inhumanity!!
